Meteoric growth for a space focused venture capital firm.

I was brought on to be Head of Brand & Marketing at Space Capital. As Head of Brand & Marketing I was responsible for a multitude of projects including producing data driven content, a company podcast, an investor expedition and launching a new brand, Space Talent.

Problem

The company website was difficult to navigate for both angel investors and potential portfolio companies leading to a high bounce rate.

Solution

Focus on data driven user research to streamline the application process for angel investors and potential portfolio companies. This resulted in an increase in successfully completed applications.

 
 

In a 2 month time period from conception to launch I successfully created a logo, brand identity, marketing campaign and website for a new space industry specific talent platform.

Problem

Users were not engaged with the platform, they would only sign in when prompted to make key investments.

Additionally, when they submitted an investment they often clicked the button multiple times because of the lag due to payment processing.

Solution

I developed a virtual badges for different tiers of investors. Interacting with the platform, inviting other investors to join helped you climb tiers and gain access to Space Angels events, higher touch communication from the firms partners and exclusive access to deals.

To address users clicking the submit button multiple times while the payment was processing, I added text alerting users that processing can take 30 seconds to a minute and the button took them to a loading page before the success page to prevent them from clicking the button multiple times.

Content Production

 

In order to solidify Space Capital’s brand as a thought leader in the space I produced an array of industry specific content. This included case studies, white papers, quarterly reports and monthly podcasts. In addition, to promote our yearly VIP trip for important investors I produced a highlight video featuring trip highlights.

 
 
 

Digital Ads & Email Campaigns

I implemented a strong foundation of analytics, reporting and running strategic marketing tests which enabled me to fine tune the existing content calendar and implement a multi-pronged digital advertising campaign. In addition, I set up automated email campaigns to both recruit potential new members and keep our existing angel investors engaged.
